Barbers Shop Footrest, 19th C Cast Iron Clarke Gt Dover St S.E

This 19th C black cast iron footrest is likely from a barbers shop. It would have been fixed to the floor using the four holes on each leg, in front of the barber’s chair to provide support for the customers feet. The foot plate itself has an attractive leaf lattice design and the manufacturer mark "Clarke Gt Dover St S.E" across the bottom. The height and angle are not adjustable. If not reused for its original purpose it would make a unique cookbook stand for the kitchen.
