This antique walnut bureau cabinet, also known as a secretaire or fall-front desk, dates to the Georgian or Regency period.

Single-piece bureau with a drop-down front panel that opens to form a writing surface. Supported by internal chains, the interior features small drawers, pigeonholes, and three distinct arched compartments for organising documents and stationery. The lower section is a cabinet base with two panelled doors for additional storage. The top has a moulded cornice, with carved decorative details on the upper corners. Made from burr and figured walnut, showing fine grain and an attractive aged patina. Unlike a slant-front bureau, the fall-front writing surface is generously sized, offering ample room for a laptop, keyboard, and mouse, making it well suited for modern use.
