This prestigious mahogany dressing desk is from Queen Mary’s personal cabin onboard HMS Medina. The P&O steamer RMS Medina was requisitioned for the King and Queen’s state visit to India in 1911-12. It was then that notable English furniture manufacturers Waring & Gillows of London were commissioned to fit out the royal apartments. This well-proportioned dressing table is made of mahogany and constructed in three pieces for ease transportation. Each side has 4 drawers with silver plated handles and a pull out tooled green leather writing surface with a larger central drawer below the gold velvet covered desktop. A brass plaque on the inside of the central drawer is inscribed “HMS Medina Used on the State Visit of T.M The King & Queen to India 1911-12  Warings London”

A beautiful piece of furniture with outstanding provenance and a rich nautical and royal history.
