This impressive antique fireback is a large, English cast iron fireplace reflector from the Georgian period, dating back to circa 1800. It features a beautifully detailed classical scene in superb relief, showcasing intricate craftsmanship and a desirable aged patina.

The fireback's design centres on an arched rectangular panel with beaded edging, framing the classical motif. At the top, a pair of mirrored dolphins create a striking focal point, while the sides are embellished with ribbons and bows, each suspending delicate bunches of fruit and flowers. At the base, a central cartouche bears the inscription "Anno 1663."

Crafted from high-quality cast iron, this fireback remains in good condition overall. While there is a historic break and repair (as shown in the listing images), it does not detract from the appearance or function of this charming decorative piece.
