Bog Oak Boards, Cut from Reclaimed Riverbank Pilings
SKU: NR28424
A batch of mixed-width bog oak boards with a planed finish. Cut from reclaimed riverbank pilings. The boards are sold as a single batch of around 14.8 Square Metres in mixed lengths and widths but a common thickness of 17mm. The minimum and maximum dimensions for length and width are listed below.
Bog oak is a type of oak wood that has been preserved in waterlogged conditions, often in peat bogs, marshes or riverbanks. The anaerobic environment of these waterlogged conditions prevents the wood from decaying, allowing it to remain intact for thousands of years. Bog oak is characterised by its dark colour which is due to the tannins and minerals absorbed from the water. It is generally harder and denser than regular oak, and it is often said to have a greater resistance to decay and insect damage. The waterlogging process can also create interesting patterns and textures in the wood.
These boards are cut from reclaimed riverbank pilings. They are carefully de-nailed and graded for usability. They are a reclaimed product and will have signs of wear and tear with nail holes and small notches and splits. Please use the listing photos as a visual reference of the condition. Please contact us if you have any specific requirements or would like any more information. Buyers should consult with their chosen fitter or trained professional to ensure the boards are suitable for the intended purpose.
