Brass Alms Plate, Rare St. George & Dragon design, 17th C European
This large circular brass alms dish has a rolled rim decorated with an oval and diamond design. The center, although worn, appears to depict St. George Slaying the dragon.
Alms dishes, also known as Armada dishes or Elizabethan dishes would have been used to collect offerings from worshipers in church but also serving food or simply for display.
